Injector replacement, fuel system repair, exhaust and DEF work, transmission remanufacturing and complete engine overhauls done in house mean the truck is not parked waiting on somebody else’s shipping schedule. Ask whether the work leaves the building. If the answer is yes for injectors or for the rebuild, add a week to whatever estimate you were just given, because that is what a shipped component and a second queue actually cost you.
Fix The Cause And The Derates Stop
Two derates in a month is not bad luck, and it is not the truck telling you it is done. It is a restriction with a cause, and the cause sits somewhere between the fuel tank and the tailpipe. Ask what the soot load read, what the DEF quality test showed, what the differential pressure looked like before and after, and whether anything was replaced or only reset. A cleared code means the dash went quiet, not that the truck got fixed. Book the diagnostic, have the fuel and exhaust systems looked at as one system, and schedule the repair while the tractor is still earning rather than after it quits on the shoulder with four cars on the deck.
